When it can't wait

Dental emergencies never pick a good time. As an emergency dentist in Roy, we move quickly to ease pain, treat infection and fix what's broken.

Call (801) 985-3300 and tell us it's urgent. We offer same-day emergency visits, and the earlier in the day you call, the easier it is to get you in. We help patients from Roy, West Haven, Hooper, Riverdale, Clinton, Sunset and Ogden.

Common dental emergencies

  • A bad toothache or throbbing pain
  • A cracked, chipped or broken tooth
  • Swelling in your gums, face or jaw
  • A tooth knocked loose or knocked out
  • A lost filling or crown
  • Pain or bleeding that won't settle down

What to do right now

Call us first so we can tell you what to do and get you in. If a tooth is knocked out, pick it up by the top, not the root, keep it moist (milk works) and call right away. Time matters.

If swelling is making it hard to breathe or swallow, or you have a high fever, go to the emergency room first. Those can be signs of a serious infection.

What happens at your visit

Dr. Hyrum or Dr. Joseph Packard will find the cause, explain it in plain language and get you comfortable. Sometimes that means a filling or a same-day crown. Sometimes it means root canal treatment to save the tooth, or a gentle tooth extraction when it can't be saved. You hear your options before we start.

Members of our dental membership plan have one emergency exam a year included.

Common questions

Can I be seen the same day?

We offer same-day emergency visits. Call (801) 985-3300 as early as you can and let us know it's urgent so we can find you a spot.

What are your hours?

We're open Monday through Thursday 8 to 5 and Friday 7 to 2. We're closed on weekends.

When should I go to the ER instead?

If swelling is making it hard to breathe or swallow, or you have a high fever, go to the emergency room right away. For a toothache, broken tooth or lost crown, call us first.

Is a toothache an emergency?

A toothache that keeps you up, throbs or comes with swelling should be seen soon. Pain usually means something needs attention, and treating it early is usually simpler.

Do I need to be a current patient?

No. New patients with urgent problems are welcome. Call us and we'll work to get you in quickly.
