Dental Exams & Cleanings in Roy, Utah
The single best thing you can do for your smile is also the simplest: show up for your regular exam and cleaning. Here's what that looks like at Packard Dental.
Why Regular Cleanings Matter
Even with great brushing and flossing at home, plaque and tartar build up in places a toothbrush can't reach. Left alone, that buildup leads to cavities, gum disease, and problems that cost far more time and money to fix later. A cleaning every six months, paired with a thorough exam, is how we catch those issues while they're still small.
What Happens at Your Visit
- A thorough cleaning. We remove plaque and tartar buildup, including in spots daily brushing tends to miss.
- A complete exam. Dr. Hyrum or Dr. Joseph Packard checks your teeth, gums, and bite for anything that needs attention.
- X-rays when needed. Digital X-rays let us see between teeth and below the gumline, using minimal radiation.
- Plain-language answers. If we find something, we explain it clearly — no confusing terms, no pressure.
It's Been a While? That's Okay.
Whether it's been six months or six years since your last cleaning, you won't be judged here. We meet every patient where they are and help them move forward at a pace that feels comfortable.
Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I get a dental cleaning?
Most patients do best with a cleaning and exam every six months. If you have gum disease or other risk factors, we may recommend visiting more often.
Will my cleaning hurt?
A routine cleaning shouldn't be painful. If your gums are sensitive or it's been a long time since your last visit, let us know — we'll adjust our approach to keep you comfortable.
Are exams and cleanings covered by the Membership Plan?
Yes. Two doctor exams and two preventive cleanings per year are covered at 100% under our Membership Plan, along with full-mouth X-rays.
Do you see kids for cleanings too?
Absolutely. We welcome patients of all ages, from a child's first cleaning to routine care for grandparents.
