Same-day crowns and bridges in Roy, Utah

Most single crowns are designed, milled and placed in one visit. No goopy impressions, no temporary crown, no second trip.

Same-day crowns, right here in Roy

When a tooth is too damaged for a filling, a crown covers and protects it so you can chew normally again. The old way took two visits, a goopy impression and a few weeks in a temporary crown that liked to pop off at dinner.

Our same-day crowns in Roy skip all that. We take a digital scan of your tooth, design your crown on screen and mill it right here in our office while you wait. Most single crowns are done in one visit, often in about an hour and a half, though every tooth is a little different.

When a crown or bridge makes sense

  • After a root canal, to protect the treated tooth
  • When a large filling is failing
  • When a tooth is cracked, broken or badly worn
  • When one or more teeth are missing and you'd like a fixed, not removable, way to fill the gap

A bridge "bridges" the space left by a missing tooth, anchored to the teeth or implants on either side. Bridges are usually made of several connected pieces, so they aren't usually same-day. We'll tell you upfront what your case needs.

What to expect

  • Numbing first, so the visit is comfortable
  • A quick digital scan instead of a messy impression
  • Your crown designed and milled in our office
  • A careful bite check and adjustments before it's bonded in place
  • A shade matched to your neighboring teeth so it blends in

Dr. Hyrum Packard and Dr. Joseph Packard will walk you through each step before we start, so nothing is a surprise.

Bridge or implant?

If you're missing a tooth, a bridge isn't your only option. A dental implant replaces the root too and doesn't lean on the teeth next to it. We'll explain the trade-offs of each in plain language and help you choose what fits your mouth, your budget and your goals.

Common questions

Do you really place crowns in one visit?

Yes, for most single crowns. With digital scanning and in-office milling, we design, make and place the crown in the same appointment, so there's no temporary and no second visit.

How long does a same-day crown appointment take?

It varies with the tooth, but many visits take about an hour and a half from start to finish. We'll give you a better idea once we see your tooth.

Are bridges same-day too?

Usually not. A bridge is several connected pieces, so it typically takes more than one visit. We'll tell you upfront what to expect for your case.

How long do crowns and bridges last?

With good care, crowns and bridges commonly last 10 to 15 years or longer. Regular exams help us catch wear early.

Does getting a crown hurt?

We numb the tooth first, so the visit itself is generally comfortable. Some sensitivity for a few days afterward is normal.
