Tooth-colored fillings in Roy, Utah

A cavity doesn't have to mean a mouth full of metal. Our tooth-colored fillings blend right in and hold up to everyday life.

Why we use tooth-colored fillings

Older silver (amalgam) fillings darken over time and show up every time you laugh. Our composite fillings are shaded to match your natural tooth, so once they're in, most people can't tell they're there.

They also bond right to the tooth. That means we remove less healthy tooth to place them, and more of your tooth stays yours.

Signs you might have a cavity

  • Twinges with sweets, hot drinks or cold drinks
  • A dark spot or rough edge you can feel with your tongue
  • Food that keeps getting stuck in the same place
  • A tooth that aches when you bite down

Early cavities often don't hurt at all. That's why your regular dental exam matters. We'd much rather find a cavity when it's small.

What to expect

  • Numbing first, so you're comfortable before we start
  • Gentle removal of only the damaged part of the tooth
  • One visit. Most fillings are done start to finish in a single appointment
  • Shaped and polished to match the rest of your tooth

Dr. Hyrum or Dr. Joseph Packard will show you what we found and explain your options in plain language before anything happens. No pressure.

When a filling isn't enough

If a cavity is very large or a tooth is cracked, a filling may not be strong enough. A same-day crown can protect it, and most single crowns are done in one visit right here in our office.

Members of our dental membership plan save 20% on fillings.

Common questions

How do I know if I have a cavity?

Cavities don't always hurt early on, which is why regular exams matter. Sensitivity to sweets, hot or cold, or a dark spot on a tooth, are common signs worth having checked.

Does getting a filling hurt?

We numb the area first, so most people feel pressure, not pain. Some mild sensitivity for a day or two afterward is normal.

How long do tooth-colored fillings last?

With good brushing and flossing, composite fillings commonly last 7 to 10 years or longer. We check them at your regular exams.

Can you replace my old silver fillings?

Often, yes. If an old filling is worn, cracked or leaking, we can talk about replacing it with a tooth-colored one. We'll tell you honestly whether it needs it.

Are fillings discounted on the Membership Plan?

Yes. Membership Plan members save 20% on fillings.
